Ladakh lies under the northern state of Jammu & Kashmir, being one of the most sparsely populated areas, with its culture reminiscent to that of Tibet. To its east lies Tibet, while it is surrounded by Lahaul and Spiti regions to its south and is surrounded on its west by Kashmir, Jammu and Baltiyl regions. You will witness the beautiful mountainous landscapes and the exquisite culture. The region is dominated by Buddhists and have a spiritual feel in the air.
Ladakh, famous for its monasteries and stupas have some spectacular monuments including the Shanti Stupa, Spituk Monastery, Thiksey Monastery and many more. One of the very famous attractions of Ladakh remain to be Pangong Lake, which gives some of the most picturesque views. Amongst its culinary delight, the most prominent food that you will taste is the Ladakhi Thukpa and Tsampa (roasted barley flour). Another dish that is very famous in Ladakh is Skyu, a heavy pasta dish with root vegetables. The region’s population is split between muslims and buddhists who are extremely warm hearted.
The best time to visit Ladakh is from April to June, when you have clear blue skies and very pleasant weather, July and August see the monsoons set in.
